Hello & Welcome

I am Yue Li, an assistant professor at the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Kansas.

My research program mainly focuses on three areas: (1) health-related (mis)information diffusion across individuals and news media on social media, (2) dynamic processes of strategic communication and media coverage of public health policies, and (3) processing and longitudinal effects of health-related (mis)information on public's health-related perceptions and behaviors.

To answer these questions, I frequently apply theory-driven computational methods, including social network analysis, natural language processing, and machine learning, to “big data” that frequently include text data, social network data, longitudinal survey data, and digital trace data on social media. I also use advanced inferential analyses, such as inferential network analyses, longitudinal panel analyses, and time series analyses, to explain communication processes.
